BARACK OBAMA
Scares the hell out of me!
Does he scare me because he identifies himself as a black man? No, I couldn’t care less about a man’s race, his racial identity, his heritage, or how he sees himself as long as he is rational and sane. I believe Mr. Obama is both imminently rational and sane however misguided one supposes his politics to be. The far-right would have us believe that he’s a Radical Leftist; the far-left would have us believe that he is not radical enough. The truth of the matter is probably somewhere in-between, although I expect it will prove to be just left of center. If politics were a 4-inch rule, starting with 0 and ending at 4 with the Socialists at the 0 mark, and Fascists at the number 4, then I would expect to find Mr. Obama actually at about the inch to inch-and-a-half mark.
Well then, maybe because of the muddying of the waters surrounding his birth? Was he born in Hawaii as he claims? Or in Kenya, as some others speculate? I don’t know, but I suspect he probably was born in Hawaii as claimed, however there may be something personally embarrassing to him on the document. Perhaps his legal birth name wasn’t Obama. Perhaps his name is listed as ‘Barry’ Obama rather than Barack Obama Jr. After all, most sons want to identify with their fathers, and if he changed his name to reflect his father’s heritage, then that is his own business and with the American Media being what it is along with pressure from the other side, the truth will out eventually.
So then, does he scare because of his affiliations? Not at all, some of the people around him are of ‘less than Sterling’ character, sure. Some of them have been down-right dangerous in their time. But! Their time is long over now. They, and their movement is, at best, laughable today in the eyes of most Americans, and if not laughable, then pathetic. Time has shown that their economic model is fatally flawed. Socialism is a ‘Catch-22’ philosophy in actual practice. Or, at least totalitarian socialism is. Even democratic socialism has Major problems. If you don’t believe me, look to France to see. Is their system better than ours? Less crooked maybe? Better for the working man? Have they evened the playing field? I think, not. Then turn your eye to Great Britain and Canada, and Socialized Medicine. Has that experiment really worked? If so, then why are British and Canadian citizens coming here for medical treatment? Because they have a gross lack of up-to-date equipment, and a too-small medical community because medicine just doesn’t pay Doctors and Nurses there what it pays here, even with our messed-up Insurance system(s). Not to mention double-dealing Pharmaceutical giants.
Yes, we do need some changes in our economy, more protection of the individual from preying businesses, from businesses that make agreements amongst themselves to raise our rates for things that shouldn’t cost what they do because the companies in question artificially hold them high to increase their profit and inflate their Executive member’s salaries.
That may be taken care of in the next 4 years, it may not be. After all, the sad fact is…these companies own more of our politicians than the American People do.
No, Mr. Obama scares the hell out of me for my own reason, a very simple and personal reason. For the past 51 years, we have always had a President who was older than me. I was happy with that, even when the President was someone whom I thought was a clown, or a person who, in my own humble opinion, probably didn’t have sense-enough to come in out of the rain, without someone to prod them along. I have always been secure in the knowledge that all of them, Great Men, Clowns, Dunces and even Camelot-turned National Tragedy, have been older therefore wiser than myself.
For the first time in my life, our National Leader is someone who probably doesn’t really remember when Neil Armstrong took his “Small Step-Giant Leap.” He is a man who was never subject to the pressure of the draft, or the possibility of going to Vietnam; a man who is more a part of the “Kiss” generation than the “Beatles” generation. I wonder if he even remembers when we could hear the Beatles on our transistor radios?
I guess that I’d better get used to the idea because as I age, the President’s will probably seem younger and younger. The truth is, the last 2 presidents were in my Generation and so is this one, actually. He’s just in a younger part of the ‘Baby Boom.’ Oh my God, this means that we’ll have a generation ‘X’ President in the next few years! I know I’m not ready for that. Not yet, anyway.
Well, having a younger man take over the reins is probably a good thing. His perspective is different and has little of the baggage of the older parts of our generation. I think that over all, unless he has problems with coming in out of the rain, or acting the Clown, Mr. Obama may just be a breath of fresh air and if he proves himself as capable of politicking nationally as he has in his previous endeavors, he may just turn out to be one of the ‘Great’ Presidents. God knows we need one. ©Texasfred

Obama is NOT black. He is half-white. Black people (who are actually black) call that "pecan tan." Obama is more Muslim than he is black. More white too!
ReplyDeleteAs I said in the blog, he identifies himself as a 'black man' regardless of the reality of his actual race. Other than that, I wasn't aware that "muslim" was a race.
